Inspiring Greatness: Tribute to Sheikh Imam Muhammed Sanni
Sheikh Imam Muhammed Sanni's life serves as a testament to the values of kindness, compassion, and service to others. Born to a father who migrated from Ilorin to Ghana, settling in Cape Coast, Sheikh Imam Muhammed Sanni was the first of five children. His father, an Imam, married a Fanti woman, and Sheikh Muhammed Sanni was sent to study in Kumasi under the guidance of Mallam Mai Kano's father.
Upon completing his studies and returning home, Sheikh Muhammed Sanni announced his father's passing to the local mallams. Despite suggestions that he should succeed his father as the Imam, he humbly declined, instead recommending the appointment of his father's second in command (Naibi) as the new Imam, a position he served for 16 years.
During his tenure as an Imam from 1968 to 1988, Sheikh Muhammed Sanni played a pivotal role in acquiring land for the construction of the central mosque in Cape Coast. Known for his philanthropy, he offered assistance to those in need, regardless of their background, leading to many converts to Islam among the Fanti people.
Despite numerous offers, Sheikh Muhammed Sanni never accepted any traditional chieftaincy titles, preferring to be of service to others. He encouraged education and helped many lesser-known mallams rise to prominence.
At his passing, mallams from Ilorin came to offer their final prayers and support for the completion of the central mosque, highlighting his impact and legacy. Sheikh Imam Muhammed Sanni's life exemplifies the values of kindness, compassion, and selfless service, leaving a lasting impact on the Cape Coast community.
Sheikh Imam Muhammed Sanni is the father of the present Iyalode of Cape Coast.

ALAO MALAIKA HEADLINING THE UPCOMING ALL YORUBA HEROES SUMMIT IN GHANA.
The upcoming Tribute Concert and Awards/All Yoruba Heroes Summit in October 2024 promises to be a truly special event with the confirmation of Alao Malaika as the headlining musician. This announcement comes after weeks of anticipation, as the planning committee deliberated over inviting one of Nigeria's top musicians for the occasion. Alao Malaika's participation is particularly noteworthy as artists of his calibre often have packed schedules, rarely leaving Nigeria for performances on weekends due to multiple engagements that bring significant revenue.
The credit for securing Alao Malaika's presence goes to Alhaji Abdul Lateef (Olumegbon), who not only extended the personal invitation but also took on the responsibility of covering the associated costs. Alhaji Lateef's influence and generosity have made this exciting collaboration possible. This rare opportunity to experience Malaika's performance outside of Nigeria is a testament to the dedication and vision of the planning team behind the event.
The performance is scheduled for a Saturday, the banquet dinner of the event, ensuring that a wider audience can attend. Admission to the venue will be free for regular attendees, thanks to the support of Chief Alhaji Lateef, CEO of Big Hajia Enterprises and a prominent figure in Ghana's business landscape. As the Chief Amuludun of Ghana and a generous patron of the Tribute Concert and Awards, Chief Alhaji Lateef's commitment to celebrating Yoruba culture and honouring its heroes is evident in this collaboration with Alao Malaika.
